Common ground for religons..

ONE of the unforgettable scenes during the Jan 25 Egyptian revolution was the determination of Egyptian Christians to protect the Muslims, who were praying in Tahrir Square. The Christians formed a circle around the Muslims to safeguard them from the stones thrown by the security forces loyal to former president Hosni Mubarak and other vigilantes surrounding the square.

Definitely, the position of the people of Egypt at the time was an important indicator of their desire to oppose voices trying to instigate conflicts between Christians and Muslims in the midst of protests to demand for freedom for all Egyptians. On the contrary, the Christians protected the Muslims from the brutality of police forces during Friday prayers — a sign of solidarity and commitment to work together to obtain freedom for the whole nation.

To maintain peace and stability in the world, both religions must adress bilateral issues and lay down solid and sustainable strategies to strengthen coordination between them, along with a practical long-term plan to encourage peaceful co-existence in the international community. This depends on the ability of all parties to find a common ground to push for constructive dialogue and to unite the people. Without any doubt, peace, harmony, equality and justice for all can are attainable only under the positive and wise guidance of the enlightened soul, in addition to the clear and reliable rules of religions.
