Case against Swiss man shelved

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 7: The Public Prosecution has decided to shelve the case of a Swiss man, identified only as Sandor, who was accused of helping a suspicious UK citizen to escape from the country.Attorney Labeed Abdal who represented Sandor told the Arab Times he appreciates the decision taken by the Prosecution because right from the beginning his client had denied the charge. He added, “There is no legal evidence to prove the man had committed a crime.” He said his client was released without bail because there is no evidence to prove any charges against him.Case papers indicate in August 2009, the two men after completing their departure formalities at the Kuwait International Airport exchanged their boarding cards. The UK man, who is of Pakistani origin, left the country but the Swiss was stopped when the Immigration Department official discovered a discrepancy in his boarding card number and the man was referred to the airport authorities for interrogation
